“What do we do now?”

This question rang through my messages, inbox, and phone calls yesterday morning. Maybe you’re thinking this too, Reader...

My response is simple. We keep planting seeds.

Listen, I’ve worn a lot of hats in the last few years - high school educator, community organizer, nonprofit program manager, fundraiser, union leader, business owner, mentor, and a realist with big dreams… So, I’m no stranger to a day full of mixed emotions. Celebration, heartbreak, hope, disappointment. Sometimes all before lunchtime.

And I know one thing to be true.

Passion alone doesn’t get us to our goals.

Action does.

Whether you’re here because you’re a gardener or a small business owner (or one in the making), you know just as well as I do that the best harvests happen when we balance our head and our heart. You have to pause, reframe your thinking, and unapologetically ask yourself, What if?—and make intentional choices that line up with what you really want in the not-so-distant future.

So, here’s what I want you to do. Grab a sticky note, a notebook, or whatever you have on hand, and jot this down:

  • What do you know today that you didn’t know last week? (That, my friend, is called growth.)
  • A year from now, what’s one big change you want to see in your life? Is it a new habit? More clients? A supportive community that gets what you’re about? The clearer you picture that goal, the closer you are to making it real.
  • What are the top 3 actions you can take, right now, to get you there? What are you willing to learn how to do?

This letter of The Dirt digs into getting ready to grow for 2025. Ready?

01. Fresh Seeds

The binge-worthy business resources

I’m still buzzing from Amy Porterfield’s podcast with Dr. Benjamin Hardy. As an educator and human behavior enthusiast, I was practically shouting, “Say it louder for the folks in the back!”

For years, I’ve been saying the bar is too low for our kids—and guess what? We’re setting it too low for ourselves, too. Whether you need a mindset shift or are ready to set extraordinary goals for 2025, this episode breaks down the psychology of self-development and why traditional goal setting isn’t cutting it.

02. The Branding Bench

Quick, easy tips to refresh and elevate your brand

You know how names matter? Well, I’ve been deep in the weeds lately—crafting new free workshops, planning for fresh small business clients, and prepping my first course launch for 2025. And let’s just say, I’ve been obsessed with picking "the right" names.

That’s where Alexandra Watkins, founder of the branding agency Eat My Words, comes in. Her free SMILE & SCRATCH test helps you make sure the name of your business, product, or service stands the test of time.

03. Soul-Saving Tech Tools

Time-saving tech to free up your schedule

If you’re like me, you’re tired of the endless scroll and screen time. Lately, I’ve been focusing on something more meaningful—our weekly love letters (oh, I mean emails).

As a gardener or new entrepreneur, it’s easy to get caught in app metrics, thinking that’s the only way to connect. But the reality? You have zero control over an algorithm. If you’re ready to build a sustainable community and increase sales—without the burnout—an automated email service provider like Kit is where you start. It’s designed for creators who mean business.

04. A Glimpse from the Garden

Weekly Dose of Garden therapy + Cam’s Cutthroat Kitchen

In the spirit of working smarter, not harder, I’m excited to announce my partnership with GrowOya—one of my go-to gardening brands.

They help gardeners save time and water.

After chatting with co-founder Josh, I instantly knew we were onto something good. I walked away thinking, “Now that’s a breath of fresh air.” because I found another gardening business owner who gets me and what I stand for.

Too often, we chase affiliate links or new products that don’t really align with us. In fact, I’ve turned down more collaborations than I care to count because I only want to share what I truly trust.

Before you say yes to any shiny opportunity, ask yourself: “Will this move me closer to my WHAT IF?”

For me, GrowOya is a resounding hell yes.

05. In Bloom

Behind the business scenes & what’s happening in our community

If our business is an ecosystem that thrives for both our community and our goals, then everything we do over the next 90 days needs to nurture that growth.

So, what does that look like for me?

Increased collaboration = More eyeballs for everyone: First up, my debut podcast interview is dropping this month, plus we’ve got the GrowOya giveaway coming your way! Be sure to follow me on IG for all the exciting details.

More learning = More long-term opportunities: With 2025 plans in motion, I’m preparing 3 live virtual workshops to help you turn your passion into profit. And stay tuned—I'm sending limited invites for my brand-new course soon!

06. Your Business Cravings

Exactly what your growing business needs (or needs to revamp) right now

This week, I joined Neil Patel’s free webinar to get a peek at the 2025 Marketing Predictions.

As a conscious consumer, I’m curious to see how businesses I trust will implement these strategies. But as a small business owner? Trend #1 caught my eye, but it’s Trend #16 that I’m really focusing on. Who would’ve guessed?

07. Artful Intelligence

AI-powered prompts to nurture creativity and spark your next big idea

Ever feel like people are always asking, “How do you make it all work?” When something feels second nature, it’s hard to slow down and explain it step-by-step. In business, it’s called an SOP; in teaching, a lesson plan—a “how-to” for making your magic repeatable.

If you’re tired of answering the same questions, let AI help you create a resource that keeps your community thriving independently.
